John Griffin Carlisle (September 5, 1834 – July 31, 1910) was an American politician from the commonwealth of Kentucky and was a member of the Democratic Party. He was elected to the United States House of Representatives seven times, first in 1876, and served as Speaker of the House, from 1883 to 1889. Caffery, Donelson, 1835-1906

Donelson Caffery was born near Franklin, La., on September 10, 1835, and served as a lieutenant in the 13th Louisiana Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. He married Bethia Richardson in 1869. He was a planter in St. Mary Parish, La., state senator for St. Mary Parish (1892-1894), and U.S. senator from Louisiana (1893-1901). He died in New Orleans, La., on December 30, 1906. His son, John Murphy Caffery, was a 1901 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, a prominent St. Mary Parish planter, and s...
